CBK Sci Con Limited is a consultancy that offers technical and management advice to business in e-science domains. CBK sits at the interface between academia and industry, and its main areas of focus include High Performance Computing and Modelling and Simulation across a number of sectors. CBK also facilitates industry access to High Performance Computing facilities and provides the required support to use the infrastructure. CBK is well connected to the HPC community at an EU and international level.
CBK will provide the required commercial management capability for the project, and will provide strong support to UCL which leads WP1: Management. CBK will take the leading role in liaising with industry partners.
Key Personnel
Paul Best – CBK’s Industry Director. Paul is a Chartered Engineer with 40 years of engineering, research and technology business experience, spanning complex engineered systems in aerospace, defence, transport, energy and sports sectors. Paul was a director and shareholder of Frazer-Nash Consultancy (computational scientific, engineering & mathematical services) and past chairman of CFMS Limited (Centre for Fluid Mechanics Simulation) a government supported joint venture with Rolls-Royce, Airbus, MBDA, BAE Systems, and Williams F1. Paul was also a founder member of the UK’s Government’s E-Infrastructure Leadership Council.
Dr Hugh Martin – Director & General Manager of CBK Sci Con Ltd with a background in computational nucleotide-nanopore research pertaining to gene sequencing. Since completing his PhD, he has performed numerous management and administrative roles in several EU (FP7 & H2020) research projects as well as UK funded initiatives, all pertaining to either high performance computing, big data, biomedical informatics or computational biology. At CBK, he has worked on EU H2020 projects ComPat and CompBioMed. As Director & General Manager of CBK, he manages all of CBK’s activities and is the principal point of contact for the company.
