CompBioMed’s 12th webinar took place on 7 July 2020.
Getting started with Deep Learning: A gentle introduction and working example
This webinar provides an introduction to Machine Learning (ML), and more specifically, Deep Learning (DL). Using computer vision as an example, this seminar elaborates on the working principles of topics such as convolutional neural networks (CNN), network architectures, or transfer Learning. Using the Keras library, students will have a hands-on experience with deep learning for classification of images. This webinar is aimed at students with no previous experience with Deep Learning. The only requirement is the ability to read and write Python code.
Presentation given by:
Dr. Juan José Durillo Barrionuevo
Juan received the MSc and PhD degrees in computer science from the University of Málaga, Spain, in 2006 and 2011. From 2011 to 2017, he worked as assistant professor at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, where he researched the intersection between Artificial Intelligence and software generation. He has authored over 50 publications in international journals, conferences and book chapters. Since 2018, he works as a scientist at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (LRZ) in Munich. His research interests include automatic tuning of scientific applications, multi-criteria optimisation, GPU computing, ML, DL and Neural Architecture Search.
This webinar series is run in collaboration with the VPH Institute
